So I bit the bullet, took advantage of a 50% off sale at Hobby Lobby and bought seven 3-ring binder books. The next task was to then take apart all of my old books and start from scratch. While it was quite the chore, I loved it! It let me see the progression of my scrapping but also to once again, relive each and every memory I had scrapped. Even my daughter got into into - not to help per se, but to comment on "why on earth did you take that photo?", "I remember that dress - that was my favorite", "that was a fun trip" and even an occasional "this is a pretty layout, Mom" . And THAT is why we scrap - to preserve memories and create conversations many years later.
And this led to the idea of scrapping the scrapbooks! Any excuse for another layout, right? Inspiraiton was contributed by many, as always:
- Sketch - Paper Secrets is showcasing a sketch by Liz Chidester from TheScrappiest.Blogspot.com with a twist to include chipboard (the banners and little hearts from Maya Road).
- "Keep On" sentiment - Brenda Ragsdale Grand Diva's Creative Corner
- Intricate Doily - ACOT Fashion Challenge; the doily began as a focal point but as I added more and more, it took a bit of a back seat which was OK by me.
- ACOT Use Your Stash - 2 solid papers, 5 patterned papers, 2 embellishments, chipboard
And don't forget to come back April 1 for a blog hop with a grand prize of an entire 24-piece set of Spectrum Noir markers and more!
great job on the sketch! love all the colors in your layout! Thanks for playing along with PS!
ReplyDeleteFabulous job with the sketch and how cool to scrap the scrapbooks! I have tackled the same chore from strap-bound and post-bound to 3 ring books and love it too. I still have a long ways to go before I have them all converted but it sure makes adding pages so much easier! Thanks for playing along with us at Paper Secrets! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to scrapbook the scrapbooks! I must admit - all of mine are our of order too! I must invest in some of the ring binders. Love your layout and great job on the sketch! Thanks for joining us at Paper Secrets :-)
